After just two months at Duarte Community Garden, a new plot holder shared how welcomed and fulfilled she feels. She raised her hands to the sky and exclaimed how happy the garden has made her feel.

During her time as a plot holder, Nicole grew more confident as a gardener, taking home an abundance of produce and watching her toddler become more open to eating new vegetables through growing food together.

At Compostpalooza, Cora carefully examined each bug again and again. A family member later shared that ever since seeing hissing cockroaches at the event last year, Cora has been drawing them everywhere.

After trying rainbow cauliflower in class, a second grader went home raving about it—and begged his family to buy some. Before this lesson, his teacher didn’t even know he liked cauliflower.

While filling the compost tumbler, a second grader shared how much he loved composting and said he planned to start finding green waste at home so he could compost on his own time.
